CSK will not take Kochi Tuskers Lightly

Cricketainment

KTCSKAfter great victory over Mumbai Indians, Kochi will take on defending champions CSK at Kochi. Looking at last match performance of Kochi, CSK will not going to  take Kochi lightly that is sure. CSK is defending champion and most importantly it is the most consistent team of IPL, so it will definitely have upper-hand in the contest.

CSKs Bating is bolstered with the inclusion of Mike Hussey who played brilliant innings of 83 in the first match he played in IPL 4. CSK also have in-form batsmen in their ranks as all of them got the runs under their belt in the tournament. M.Vijay, Raina, Dhoni, Badrinath, S.Aniruddha are capable enough to score big runs at brisk pace. CSK also have advantage of having two all-rounders in Albie Morkel and Scott Styris. CSK bowling is their strong point  as they have Bollinger, R.Ashwin, Albie Morkel, Suraj Randiv and Shadab Jakati in their ranks. Icing on the cake is the brilliant captaincy of MS Dhoni which is huge plus for CSK.

As far as Kochi is concerned they lost their first two matches but stunned everybody by scoring the win over Mumbai Indians in Mumbai. They defeated Mumbai in a nail biting contest which has given them much needed momentum. They have very good players in their ranks but in the first two match they did not play as a unit, but they corrected their mistake in a match against Mumbai and played like a unit and won the game. Laxman, McCullum, Jayawardene, Ravindra Jadeja, Parthiv Patel forms good batting line-up. Bowling also have the names like RP Singh highest wicket-taker in IPL, S.Sreesanth, Muttiah Muralitharan, etc. but somehow their bowling did not click in last 3 matches but with confidence of win under their belt, they will definitely come out with improved bowling performance. Also they played on true and flat surfaces which did not help their bowling.

If pitch will have some grass than it will certainly help Kochi because on dry wickets they will struggle against the spin trio of CSK. So it will interesting to see what kind of wicket Kochi curator offers for this match.

CSK take on RCB. DC Face KXIP

Cricketainment
CSK will take on RCB at Chepauk
CSKRCBBoth CSK and RCB coming in this match with the defeat under their belt. CSK lost to KXIP which was bit surprising and RCB lost 2 matches consecutively after winning first game. So, as far as momentum is concern it is more with CSK rather than RCB which is looking for desperate win. As far as resources are concerned both teams looks par.
CSK have M.Vijay, Badrinath, Raina, Dhoni, Albie Morkel and Michael Hussey in their ranks as a batsmen and as far bowling is concerned they have the be1dhoninew1304_630st suited bowling line-up for Chennai wicket. They have 3 good spinners in R.Ashwin, Suraj Randiv and Jakati who can be very dangerous on turning Chepauk wicket.Chennai also have the advantage in captaincy as they have magical captain in MS Dhoni who has also got his batting form back. So this makes Chennai more dangerous.
DILABAs far as Royal Challengers are concerned they have illustrious batting line-up. They have likes of Dilshan, DeVilliers, Sourabh Tiwary, Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara. In bowling they have Zaheer Khan, Daniel Vettori, Van Der Wath, Dirk Nannes. So RCB is equally good team. Only thing they lack is x-factor in captaincy. Vettori looked completely out of sorts in last two matches and Vettori have be more pro-active.
Nobody is favorite in this game and this will going to be cracker of the contest.

Jubilant Deccan will face rejuvenate KXIP.
DCKXIPBoth the teams coming in this match with win under their belt in their last match respectively. As far as resources are concerned Deccan is having slightly upper hand. But T20 is such contest where the team which play better cricket on a day wins. So resources don’t matter too much as far as this match is concerned. Both teams have seasoned wicket-keepers at the helm of the affairs. Deccan is captained by Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara while KXIP is lead by legendary Adam Gilchrist.
ACBoth the teams have few good youngsters in their side and so far those youngsters have done well. Paul Valthaty played magnificent century innings against CSK and won the game single-handedly for KXIP while Bharat Chipli is playing consistently well for Deccan Chargers. Chipli played superb half-century innings against RCB which helped Deccan to register its first win IPL 4. So there will be lot of pressure now on Chipli and Valthaty to score runs consistently and prove that they are not one match wonder.  As far as bowling is concerned Deccan is far better with Steyn Ishant, Mishra, Gony and Ojha in their ranks while KXIP have only Chawla and Praveen Kumar.
Its going to be entertaining contest and Deccan will certainly have little edge over KXIP.

Gambhir and Kallis tame Rajasthan Royals
KKR1It was thoroughly clinical performance by KKR which saw them home quite easily against Rajasthan Royals. Gambhir and Kallis stuck to the task and helped KKR to win the game quite comprehensively. Rajasthan looked off-colour in bowling today and fielding standards also dropped a bit as they dropped 3 catches.
JK2KKR won the toss and elected to field first on pitch which initially had something in it for the bowlers but Rahul Dravid and Paunikar started cautiously but in 5th over Rajasthan lost its first wicket in Paunikar. Watson was expected but Warnie sent young Menaria at No.3 who stitched good partnership with Rahul Dravid for the 3rd wicket, just when partnership was looking dangerous, Gambhir introduced Yusuf Pathan in the bowling who picked up both Dravid and Menaria in his first over and put Rajasthan on back-foot. But Watson and Taylor knitted little partnership which helped Rajasthan in reaching good score on wicket which was bit stopping. Pathan and Shakib  bowled well but other KKR bowlers including Brett Lee  looked ordinary. Both Shakib and Lee were played in this match and now KKR is at its full strength.
Warnie1Chasing 159 of RR score, KKR lost Bisla quite early but captain Gambhir and Jacques Kallis build superb century partnership and helped KKR win the game. Both score half century and remained not-out. Gambhir looked in very good touch today right from the word go and probably given full return to KKR owners against his price at which he was bought in auction. Kallis is in superb form and KKR now looks formidable force in year’s IPL. This time KKR will definitely make it to the Top 4. KKR is sure shot contender for semi-final berth.
It was fantastic batting by Kallis and Gambhir which entertained the crowd and not to forget Rahul Dravid once again played superb knock before getting out. Return of Shane Watson didn’t help the cause of RR.

Sachin scored century but Mumbai lost to Kochi
ST2It was beautiful evening at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai with Queens Necklace in backdrop. Thousands of fans rushed to Wankhede Stadium to watch the match between Mumbai Indians vs Kochi Tuskers and fans did not disappointed either as the match proved out and out entertainment. Sachin scored his maiden IPL century, Ambati Rayudu scored yet another swashbuckling half-century, Brendon McCullum hitting Malinga with ease and Jayawardene played artistic innings.
BMKochi won the toss and elected to field first on a pitch which had little bounce and swing. Tendulkar was lucky enough to survive 2 close LBW shouts but he took full advantage of those chances and played brilliant shots all over the park.  He scored magnificent century and dominated the bowlers completely. Sachin’s brilliant innings also included MS Dhoni’s signature ‘Helicopter Shot’.  Sachin executed Helicopter shot to the perfection and proved that their is no better improviser than him in the game of cricket right now and everyday he adds something new to his batting. Ambati Rayudu played brilliant knock and scored his 2nd consecutive half-century. Rayudu matched Tendulkar stroke by stroke and later on sacrificed his wicket for the Master in last over. It was brilliant display of batting at Wankhede Stadium. It was maiden IPL century for Sachin Tendulkar. He is also highest runs scorer in IPL 4 so far and he is yet to be dismissed in this edition of IPL.
MI4After reaching the score of 182, everybody including Mumbai Indian team though they won the game but Kochi Tuskers had other ideas. Coming into this match with two losses under their belt, it was really uphill task for Kochi to win this match but at the the same time it was important to win this match at any cost. Jayawardene this time came to open the innings with McCullum. Lasith Malinga bowled brilliant delivery upfront which almost cleaned up McCullum but Rohit Sharma made a mistake and dropped the easy catch of McCullum. Here on Kochi started hammering Mumbai bowlers severely.
KT1McCullum was severe on Malinga and did not allow him to settle down at all. First time Malinga came under pressure in IPL. Sachin introduced Pollard but he proved more costlier than Malinga as McCullum and Jayawardene tore him apart. Both knitted century partnership between them. Harbhajan also failed to make an impact with wet ball as dew also played its part in Mumbai’s loss.  McCullum was hitting the ball hard while Jaywardene looked like an artist who sketched his innings brilliantly. Finally at the score of 128 Mumbai Indians succeeded in getting the breakthrough as Malinga bowled his Sri Lankan team-mate Jaywardene. Ravindra Jadeja was promoted up the order and he also didn’t disappointed either. He scored brilliant 25 and remain not-out till the end and helped Kochi Tuskers in registering their first win IPL 4. McCullum played brilliant innings of 81 and he was key architect of Kochi win.

Warnie magic worked again. Tendulkar and Rayadu shines in Mumbai win.

Cricketainment

Warnie magic worked again.

SKWWinning 2 out of 2 is the story of Rajasthan Royals and Losing 2 out of 2 is the story of Delhi Daredevils. So far Delhi Daredevils looked completely out of sorts in IPL 4 and Sehwag not firing from the top is hurting them even more. Delhi Daredevils are paying  price of the mistakes done by their owners who didn’t retain their star players except Sehwag and bought the players who don’t have much ability. One or two brilliant performances here and there will not going to help much. So Daredevils and Sehwag have to come good in coming matches. Venugopal Rao and David Warner saved Delhi yesterday from embarrassment as both help Delhi to reach respectable total.  Rao played the innings of IPL 4 yesterday and Warner also shined but those efforts gone in vain as Rajasthan Royals win the match convincingly as Delhi bowling was completely out of sorts just like their top-order batting.

VS1Warnie’s magic worked again and under his captaincy Rajasthan Royals is doing quite well. Whatever Warne is doing as captain is giving him optimum results. If we talk about personal performance of Warne, He is spot on every time he comes to bowl. Yesterday Warnie picked up 2 wickets in one over and put the Delhi on  back-foot. So Warnie is leading from the front and that is creating magic in this team as every player is determined to do well. Apart from Warnie’s captaincy, Shaun Tait bowled the fastest delivery in India which clocked around 157.7 Kms, quite thrilling that delivery was. At this moment Rajasthan Royals looks formidable side. Rahul Dravid played brilliant knock of 38 yesterday. He was positive in his approach and played the shots all over the park. His classy batting showed that T20 is not only about bang-bang. Its more than that and if you play good cricketing shots then also you can succeed in T20.

Delhi left with lot of soul searching and Rajasthan is full of confidence and slowly becoming the force in IPL 4.

Tendulkar and Rayadu shines in Mumbai win.

LM2Genius of  Tendulkar did it again for Mumbai. Mumbai registered comprehensive win over formidable Royal Challengers Bangalore. Mumbai is repeating its IPL 3 performance in IPL-4. They have won 2 out of 2 and now topping the points table.Tendulkar is in sublime form and that doing wonders for Mumbai. If we look at Top 2 teams in IPL 4 there is great similarity in their success.  Rajasthan Royals won 2 out of 2 and Warne is leading from the front and same is the case with Mumbai Indians as well. Sachin is performing and Mumbai is winning. Tendulkar ended up with brilliant half-century and he also helped young Rayadu to play the dream innings. Rayadu played fantastic innings and never looked in any kind of trouble. It was clearly Tendulkar effect. Tendulkar shared his Man of the Match award with Rayadu which was again great gesture from great cricketer.

DILABMalinga once again provided early breakthrough to Mumbai Indians with his lethal toe crushing yorker. RCB was completely looked out of sorts against superb Mumbai bowling as free-flowing players like Dilshan and DeVilliers looked like tied down as they failed to score freely against Mumbai bowling. RCB posted small total for Mumbai to chase and Mumbai chased it down quite comfortably. So now RCB have 1 win and 1 loss under their belt. Mumbai also executed their plans well against Zaheer Khan as their opener Jacobs went after Zaheer Khan initially and negated his effect completely. That was really master tactic from Mumbai Indians which helped them in winning this match quite easily.

Kings XI will face Super Kings.

CSKKXIPAfter disappointing start to their IPL 4 campaign Kings XI Punjab will face defending champions Chennai Super Kings in Mohali. Chennai is a very formidable team to beat, so it will going to be a tough task for Gilly and his boys to beat Super Kings. Under Dhoni’s magical captaincy Chennai has started it IPL 4 campaign on successful note as they beat formidable KKR in opening game. On paper CSK looks far better and settled team compared to Kings XI Punjab which has under gone complete make over. Kings XI looks very weak in IPL 4 if compared to last 3 seasons. Gilly’s captaincy is the only hope for them but Gilly as a batsmen is still a big doubt. In his prime Gilly was force to reckon but after retirement he looks ordinary with the bat.

Kings XI also don’t have big names in its line-up. Like Delhi Daredevils they also made the mistake and failed to buy right players for their cause. On the other hand Chennai retained their key players and bought the same players in the auction who played for them in last 3 seasons. Chennai is a far better and settled team and they are favourites in this contest.

Kochi will face Warriors challenge.

KTKSPWKochi bowling have to show their mettle when they face formidable Sahara Pune Warriors in Navi Mumbai tonight. Batting came good for Kochi in the first match but it was their bowling which failed to defend 161 on pitch which had little assistance for the seamers. Sahara Pune is full of confidence after their win against Kings XI Punjab.

Kochi bowlers including Sreesanth have to fire because Kochi batting is quite good.  On the other hand Sahara Pune is having fantastic team and doing well under the leadership of Yuvraj Singh who is in tremendous form this season with both bat and ball. Sahara have very good batsmen in their ranks and that is helping them in excelling in this tournament. They already won their opening match while Kochi yet to open their account of victory in the tournament. Both teams have made their debut in IPL this year and it will be interesting to see who wins the battle today. Sahara Pune are favourites.

Agony continues for Kiwis as Kangaroos scored emphatic victory

Kiwi minds must be full of thoughts about whats going wrong with them in last few months as they are losing series and matches like novices. Kiwis faced huge loss at the hands of Aussies at Jamtha, Nagpur. If talk about resources and talent then Kiwi team is no less to anybody in this tournament. They have class players in McCullum, Guptill, Taylor, Vettori and Southee but somehow they are losing the plot and their agony continuing. Today also top-order of Kiwis falter badly and I must say if  Vettori had not scored those valuable 40 odd runs in the end then Kiwis had been bundled out for less than 150. I think they have to believe in their abilities and play sensibly to their strengths.

Now on every match becomes crucial for them, it will  going to be a difficult task for them to come-back in the tournament because they have to face Sri Lanka and Pakistan who are very tough opposition in sub-continent conditions. Kiwis can make it to the quarter-finals somehow even if they lose to Sri Lanka and Pakistan but one or two upset happens in their group then it will become difficult for the Kiwis so its important that they win atleast 4 matches to go smoothly into the quarter-finals. Their top-order is not at all clicking and hence their bowler fails to make any impression in absence of good runs on the scoreboard, so its important that top-order get among the runs and give something to their bowlers.

Australia chased down the score of 206 in just 34 overs at the loss of 7 wickets reflects the pathetic situation of Kiwi team. I feel John Wright and Daniel Vettori have to make some changes in batting-order. I think they have to open with Ryder and Guptill and ask Brendon McCullum to bat one-down. New Zealand must play Jacob Oram in all the matches. I don't understand the reason of leaving him out today for Jamie How who is struggling with his batting at the moment. Oram also gives the option of bowling. Its important for New Zealand players to bring some smiles on the face of earth-quake victims back home by winning few matches.

As far as Australia is concerned they are playing like invincibles at the moment. They are bowling well, fielding well and today their top-order also got some runs under their belt but worry for them is the  form of captain Ricky Ponting who is clearly struggling with the bat. He has to score few runs just to set example for the fellow players. Ponting  have lost his confidence and looks completely out of sorts. I think his finger injury is worrying him too much and he does not look like the Ponting whom we know. There is no flow in his footwork and strokes. Australian team is winning at the moment so nobody is questioning about Ponting's batting but moment Australia start losing I think Ponting will become first victim of the loss if he continues to fail with the bat.

Good thing for Australia is their bowling. Lee, Tait and Johnson bowled very well today and restricted New Zealand by picking up regular wickets and bowling them out in just 45 overs. Right through this tournament their bowling is their main ammunition and doing very well for them. I think return of Brett Lee has done wonders to their bowling and under Lee's leadership all the bowlers are doing very well. At the moment Australians not giving an inch to the opposition batsmen and looks like going into the quarter-finals unbeaten. Brilliant performance today must have bolstered their confidence for coming matches.

So everything went perfect for Australia today except Ponting's batting and for Kiwis it was horrible match and they have to come out all guns blazing in their next match if they want to advance in the tournament.

MAN TO WATCH
DANVET
Daniel VETTORI
Daniel Vettori is captain of the New Zealand Team In-fact he is face of the KIWIS. Started his career as a slow left-arm bowler but as the career progressed he transformed himself into an all-rounder. He is one of the best slow left-arm bowler in the World Cricket. Much of the KIWI success in ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 will depend on his performances. Sub-continent conditions and pitches will definitely suit to his style of bowling. He will also play crucial role with the bat in this edition of World Cup because he is very effective batsmen in lower-order for New Zealand. His team’s recent performances does not justify his credentials as a captain but he is fighter and will lead his team effectively in the World Cup. He has the ability to lead from the front and capable of lifting the morale of his team with his individual performance.
Career-best performance:
Batting: 83  v/s Australia at Christchurch in 2005
Bowling: 7-5 v/s Bangladesh at Queenstown in 2007
New Zealand Team reached the semi-finals of the Cricket World Cup 5 times but never became lucky enough to reach the finals and lift the trophy. Their best possible  chance of winning the elite trophy was in 1992 under the captaincy of Martin Crowe but again their progress halted in semi-finals. Currently New Zealand Cricket is in big crisis as they lost 3 ODI series in a row and one of them is against minnows Bangladesh. Bangladesh white-washed Kiwis last year and series result was 0-4 as Kiwis failed to win single ODI in that series in Bangladesh and this series loss just put Kiwis on back-foot psychologically. Followed that series Kiwis lost to India 5-0.One more white-wash series loss. Now Pakistan have also defeated them in ongoing ODI series as Pakistan is leading 6 match series 3-1. So New Zealand is completely on back-foot as far as recent performances are concerned but I believe they will leave all these bad memories in New Zealand itself and approach the World Cup in sub-continent with fresh and positive thoughts.
They have good players in their ranks and if this team click as unit then they can beat any team in the world. They don’t have many superstars in their side but they have talented player in Brendon MCCullum, Ross Taylor, Martin Guptill, Tim Southee and captain himself. Believe me if these players will click in the World Cup then I feel New Zealand can win this World Cup as they are not at all short in talent and have good match-winners. They also have charismatic coach in John Wright and everybody knows what John Wright is capable of doing to any team.  Watch out  KIWIS in ICC Cricket World Cup2011.
Key Players for New Zealand: Daniel Vettori, Ross Taylor, Martin Guptill, Brendon McCUllum and Tim Southee
